Fun in the Snow

We had a lot of fun in the snow this week. We went sledding down our perfect "hill." Heather LOVED it. As did Josh. After going down a few times while holding Josh, I had Heather hold Josh and go down, and then sent Josh down on his own. He loved it too! No one was happy to go inside that day. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos until most of the good sledding snow was gone. But, you get the idea.

Woohoo!

Happy to be outside exploring

Eating snow.

I think it's time to go in...

Silly day for Heather

Stephanie snapped a few photos of Heather yesterday after she woke up from her nap. There were a few of her smiling as well, but she made a ton of funny faces for the camera and for the mirror.

Stephanie also got a few of the kids in the bath later on.

My new motto

Sometimes I look at my house and my to do list, and think about my day and wonder what on earth I did that day, because nothing got done. Then I get a little moody and depressed, and feeling bad about myself. Anyway...I came across this poem and it is a good reminder to help me keep things in perspective. This is what I do all day. This is what I choose to do all day, and I need to be better at remembering that.

Babies Don’t Keep
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,

Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Josh
They've grown up so much already and they still have a lot of years to grow! So, I think I am going to print this out and hang it up somewhere:

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Straight Hair

We've been wondering what Heather's hair looks like straight, so today I tried straightening it. What do you think?

On another note, I guess we never posted anything about Christmas. It was great! We stayed home and enjoyed our time together as a little family. Heather got a kitchen for her main Christmas present and she LOVES it! So does Josh...and I will admit it's nice to tell her to go cook or wash dishes in her kitchen when I am doing those things in mine. :)

Tasting some of her hot chocolate.
