July (so far)

Stephanie has been working on a blog post all week about things she wish she'd known with baby #1. And when I say all week, I mean all week. Unfortunately, Blogger seems to have lost most of her work. We signed in a few minutes ago to add a video and publish the post, only to find that Blogger lost most of what Stephanie has written since Wednesday. Needless to say she's pretty bummed. So she's working on re-writing that, but there's no guarantee it'll be done tonight. In the mean time, I figured I would post some pictures of our recent goings on.

We had a great Independence Day on the 4th. We started with a church breakfast at a nearby park. I (over)loaded up on pancakes and sausage! Heather was happy to run around (and around and around) on the playground.

Joshua doing what he does best...winning hearts!

We made it home just in time to head downtown for the annual 4th of July parade. We got a good seat right in front of the action, unfortunately at the expense of any hint of shade (the more prominent features of my face got a bit burned)!

Josh actually slept for the first bit.

Can you feel the anticipation?!?!

Later on in the day, we enjoyed some outdoor cooking with some friends of ours. Then once the kids were in bed, we finished off the day with the most patriotic movie we own: National Treasure!

Since then, life has been pretty predictable. Stephanie and I have a couple of hours together every evening after the kids go down--we typically play a game, work in the garden, watch a movie, or do some scrapbooking (Photoshop-like). The only times we really have together as a whole family are during breakfast, dinner, and bathtime/bedtime (and the weekends). It's not much, but we enjoy our time all together.

Joshua likes bathtime at least as much as Heather does. He tried on the faux hawk during one of his recent baths.

Duuuuuuude...

Glad I captured this one!

The rest of our summer is pretty much going to be more of the same. We are taking a weekend trip to Nauvoo to see the pageant and to go to the temple, but other than that, we're just taking it one day at a time.
