Powder party in the kids' room

The kids were making a huge ruckus banging on pots and pans in their room this morning. While Stephanie was getting dressed and making the bed, the noise finally let up, giving her a few moments of peace and quiet. However, it was a bit too quiet, and when she finished getting dressed Stephanie decided to investigate. This is what she found.

We had brought some Gold Bond powder into the kids room last night to deal with a sore bottom. Looks like we forgot to take it out with us when we were done. Gold bond: everywhere.

Seriously, Gold Bond powder?

Don't even try to play the innocent card!

Clean up was not a pleasant experience, as all three will attest.

This is one of those days that you know you'll look back on 5 years from now and laugh, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating to deal with in the moment!

Snow shoveling and blanket burritos

Our townhome complex has a pretty good maintenance crew, but sometimes I get impatient waiting for them to arrive and take matters into my own hands before the snow/ice gets too comfortable on our sidewalk. Heather and Joshua were happy to join me this morning to help out.

Looks like Heather's starting to get the hang of this!

Joshua...not so much. He's just outside for the fun.

When the walk was cleared, we came back inside to dry off and warm up. As he has been doing a lot recently, Joshua asked to be wrapped up like a blanket burrito. As an infant Josh was very colicky, and often he could only be consoled if he was swaddled very tightly. We haven't swaddled him for a long time, but recently he started asking for it again.

Our little blanket burritos.

Heather babes got in on the swaddling action too!

Whatever floats your boat, Josh. Whatever floats your boat...

Heather lost a tooth!

Heather's had a loose tooth for a few weeks now, and tonight it finally came out!

Heaher's note to the tooth fairy: DEAr too\th fiairy\ I Wunt You too too taac Mi too\th\ Heather. The tooth fairy did indeed take her tooth, and Heather's prize was a fancy new toothbrush.

Okay, that's really cute Heather, but we can't really see the...

...WHOA whoa, okay, now we see it!

It's hard to believe how quickly Heather is growing up!

End of December and New Years Eve Good Eats

The end of December was filled with lots of family time and crafts. Heather is quite the artist. She had a story for each one of these paintings.

Slime is so unbelievably easy to make and it keeps kids entertained for hours! (Ok, maybe hours is a little bit of an exaggeration, but maybe close to one hour when you factor in making it and playing with it.)

See? Only happy faces with slime.

Throughout the Christmas season, Josh would get "Hallelujah papers" (that's Josh for sheet music) and sing "Gloooooooooooooooooria" at the top of his lungs, over and over again. So cute.

For New Years Eve, we had two families over for a Balkan themed dinner.  It was a lot of fun. I tried my hand at a traditional Macedonian dish/dip called Ajvar (pronounced eye-var), it was delicious, and our Macedonian neighbors said it tasted pretty authentic. I also tried out baklava. SO yummy! We loved tasting all the different foods, and conversing and celebrating with our friends.
